Course Prerequisites

Basic info about UX. It would be great if you working on one project before. If not, then don’t worry!

Syllabus

Day 1: Business Understanding

As opposite to what most people think, UX design starts with business understanding. What does that business offer? Value preposition? Target audience and competition understanding. Also, you’ll get to know the difference between UX, IxD, Ul and Visual design.. And finally, a clear process that you will follow for the rest of the workshop.

Day 2: Users Observation

UX design is all about designing for people. How to identify the right users type? How to understand them? Identify their needs? You will get to know about UX Research and how to conduct user interviews properly.

Day 3: Synthesis & Problem Solving

Business? Checked! Users? Checked! Time to gather what you found so far, build the big picture of the situation, and start defining problem statements and personas. You will also get a high-level info about Empathy Maps and Journey Maps.

Day 4: Ideation & Sketching

Ever felt in love with an app before? Well, that was no coincidence. To land on the perfect idea for a flow or a layout, you gotta go through iterations of ideation and have a lot preplanned like: User stories, user flows, red routes. This is so much fun and daunting at the same time!

Day 5: IA & Navigation

The easier uses can find what they looking for, the more they will use the app. There is a science behind how to structure information and how to test your structure (Card Sorting Test). You will also learn how to design site maps and content inventory.

Day 6: Wireframing & Prototyping

It’s time to put all that effort into visual outcome. You will learn about Typography, grid system, visual hierarchy and core design principles. You will design edge cases and create an interactive prototype that you can test, and brag about it as well!

Day 7: Testing & Feedback

There are more than 13 type of UX research/test. You will learn how about a couple of them, like A/B testing and Heuristic Evaluation. How to conduct those researches and actually get results from those is what this session is all about.

Day 8: Present Your Work

Your job is not only to design the product, but also to be able to negotiate and convince management as well. You will learn how to present your work to non-designers, how to professionally hand-off to engineering teams and finally how to write a case study for your portfolio!
